Manish Puri/Bharatpur:- Actually, different sweets of every city are famous. But today we are talking about Nagar city of Bharatpur district, where Jaleba which is twice bigger than Jalebi is made. This Jaleba is similar to Jalebi, but its size is much larger. Confectioner Omkar says that these Jaleba will not be seen anywhere else in India except this city. One or two jalebas here will fill your stomach.
Jaleba is sold for this much rupees per kg
Shopkeeper Omkar told that here Jaleba made in plain oil is sold at the rate of Rs 70 per kg. Whereas Jaleba made in desi ghee is sold for Rs 350 per kg. Only four to five pieces fit in 1 kg of jaleba. The shopkeeper told that due to Mewat being the area, the practice of eating these jaleba has been going on here for many years. People here usually include these jaleba in their dishes even in everyday life.
This is how it gets ready
Shopkeeper Omkar told that the ingredients for making Jaleba are prepared a day before. Flour is dissolved in hot water 12 hours in advance. Hot water causes the flour to swell, due to which the jaleba becomes looser and thicker. The shopkeeper told that the people of the village get these Jaleba made on special orders for marriages and weddings also. The people here like this sweet so much that there is a high demand for this sweet even in marriages.
Omkar tells that since the city of Bharatpur is a Mewati area, people like these Jaleba in large quantities, because the people here like to eat sweets very much and especially the famous and favorite sweet of Mewati people is Jaleba.
